The first movie arrived in 2016 and basically showcased what happens if pets did the same things the toys in Toy Story did when their owners leave the house. The latter has grossed a total of $1.3 billion so far, with both films getting decent reviews, making it seem very likely that there will be more chapters and spinoffs some time down the line.
Universal Pictures and Illumination Entertainment have two very impressive and financially successful animation franchises with the Despicable Me films and The Secret Life of Pets movies. The Secret Life of Pets 2 has been a chart-topper on Netflix, and many are probably wondering if there are any plans for The Secret Life of Pets 3 to come out at some point in the future.
